Steven Bowes – Vice President of Operations
Steven Bowes has 20 years experience in the construction industry working in design, construction management and general construction throughout the Hudson Valley region. Mr. Bowes has managed complex institutional, public, and private sector projects comprising of landmark/historic buildings, government, residential, commercial, schools, and manufacturing facilities. He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Mathematics from Fairfield University. Mr. Bowes is currently taking the steps required to become a LEEDS Accredited Professional as certified by the US Green Building Council.
Key Accomplisments / Projects
Old City Hall, Kingston, NY - Award winning historical restoration of the Old City Hall in Kingston, New York. The original Kingston City Hall building was restored to its early 20th century condition and re-opened as the current seat of government for the City.
Mt. Pleasant Blythedale School, Valhalla, NY - A 34,000 SF addition to the Blythedale Children’s Hospital to create a new school for K-12 children with disabilities. Designed by Gwathmey Siegel Architects, the scope of work on this project also included alterations to 7,000 SF of hospital space to incorporate the new structure and connections to the hospital’s mechanical and medical gas systems. The existing school and hospital were fully occupied throughout the construction period.
Dutchess County Courts, Poughkeepsie, NY - A $17 million program of renovation and new construction to upgrade the county court services under the auspices of the New York State Office of Court Administration. This project included new construction of a 70,000 SF Family Court, an addition to the existing court facility, and extensive renovations to three historical landmark court buildings. All construction activities were coordinated around the operating courts for Dutchess County.
Kevin Hartney – Vice President of Construction
Kevin Hartney began his career working in the trades as a carpenter and moved through the ranks within the construction industry to his current position at Algonquin Construction. He has extensive experience in educational, commercial, residential and institutional projects. Mr. Hartney earned a degree in Civil Technology at Westcehster Community College and is currently working towards a degree in Business Administration.
Key Accomplisments / Projects
Grimes Elementary School, Mount Vernon, NY– A new 68,000 SF Elementary School in the City of Mount Vernon, NY. Work included new concrete foundations, structural steel, concrete floors, masonry exterior walls with brick and metal panel veneers, new classrooms, library, cafeteria, gymnasium and library.
Vassar College Libraries, Poughkeepsie, NY - A 35,000 square foot addition and renovation to library and renovation to the existing Thompson Library including new mechanical systems, building stone restoration, new finishes, structural steel, masonry, copper roof and technology upgrades. The library remained open during the entire project with temporary partitions and means of egress moved as needed to complete the work.
Eastman Towers, Poughkeepsie, NY - Renovation on two occupied sites of a 159 unit apartment building and 70 unit townhouse residential property. Project included façade repairs, mechanical and electrical system upgrades, structural steel retrofit and new finishes.
Additional Staff
In addition to these key staff members, Algonquin Construction has a solid core of construction professionals. These individuals have been responsible for new construction and renovations of some of the most complex projects in the region. They consist of Project Managers, Site Managers and Project Superintendents. Members of the staff possess degrees in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, architecture, planning, and design/construction related fields.
